You can now create provisioned Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK) clusters running on AWS Graviton3-based M7g instances in the Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), Europe (Frankfurt) and Canada (Central) AWS Regions.
Amazon MSK provisioned clusters running on M7g instances deliver up to 24% compute cost savings, up to 29% higher write and read throughput and up to 27% reduction in CPU usage over comparable MSK clusters running on M5 instances. The AWS Graviton3 processor based M7g instances deliver up to 25% higher storage throughput and up to 88% increase in network throughput compared to similar sized M5 instances to deliver price/performance benefits for Kafka workloads. AWS Graviton-based instances use up to 60% less energy than comparable M5 instances, allowing you to achieve your sustainability goals. With MSK’s support for M7g instances, we are bringing the benefits of AWS Graviton’s ARM-based compute and lower operational overhead of Amazon MSK to mission-critical Kafka workloads.
With these launches, support for M7g instances on MSK is now available in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo, Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, Hyderabad, Seoul), Europe (Stockholm, Spain, Ireland, Frankfurt), US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (N. California, Oregon) and Canada (Central) regions. Please refer to our launch blog for more information on the price/ performance improvements of M7g instances and the Amazon MSK pricing page for information on pricing. To get started, create a new cluster with M7g brokers using the AWS Management Console, and read our documentation for more information.
