Today AWS announces the general availability of data grants in AWS Data Exchange, a new feature enabling any AWS customer to grant time-bounded, read-only data access to any other AWS customer. This feature is intended for customers who want to exchange data across organizations easily and securely. Data grants work seamlessly with all five AWS Data Exchange supported delivery types: Data Files, Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, AWS Lake Formation (Preview), and Amazon API Gateway.
Any customer hosting data on AWS can now create data grants targeting other AWS customers and either set a predefined duration for the grant to remain live, or set it to run in perpetuity. Once the target AWS customer accepts a grant, data access is established and the data receiver is granted read-only access to the owner's data through the chosen delivery method.
Customers can issue data grants in all AWS Regions where AWS Data Exchange is available today: US East (Ohio), US East (N. Virginia), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), and Europe (London).
