You can now monitor network throughput between your Outpost rack service link virtual interfaces (VIFs) and your local network devices using Amazon CloudWatch IfTrafficIn and IfTrafficOut metrics for Outposts. Outpost rack service link VIFs establish IP connectivity and BGP sessions between your Outpost and your local network devices for service link connectivity.
With this enhancement, you can now monitor the volume of data transferred (in bits per second) between your Outpost rack service link VIFs and your local network devices in inbound and outbound directions by using CloudWatch. These metrics give visibility into network usage and help with troubleshooting local network issues. Additionally, by combining these metrics with the existing local gateway VIFs throughput metrics, you and your networking team can gain a complete view of the bandwidth requirements for your local network infrastructure to support traffic to and from your Outposts. You can access both service link and local gateway VIFs IfTrafficIn and IfTrafficOut metrics in CloudWatch.
Service link VIFs throughput CloudWatch metrics are available in all AWS Regions where Outposts rack is available, except the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
